IDs
Two people using the same Konstru Model in Revit should sync their Revit Models using Worksharing. Otherwise, each model will have a different ID in both local Models, which might cause confusion.
Names
Revit does not support special characters in names for Levels or Grids. The following characters are allowed: A-Z a-z 0-9
and . _-/'()"
. All Element names are written to the Konstru_Name
Text parameter. It should be created automatically. If the text parameter is not created automatically, you should create it manually.
Analytical Curves
With Konstru, you have the option to read/ update either analytical curves of beams, columns, braces and cables, or the physical geometry. If you wish to export or import (update) analytical curves in a specific model, simply select the checkbox to upload analytical in the up/download dialog. Konstru will show a warning recommending to disable geometry updates from Konstru. This will require you to create a specific import or export filter for Revit, in which geometry updates are ignored for Beams, Braces, Cables and Columns.
Attributes
Konstru attributes are Revit parameters.
Beams
Konstru beams are Revit family instances of category structural framing.
Beams can be line, arc or spline based. Konstru first searches for known section profiles in the Revit library. If not found it can create new families on the fly.
Konstru Lines are Revit Model Lines
Braces
Konstru braces are Revit family instances of category structural framing with structural type: bracing.
Braces can be line, arc or spline based. Konstru first searches for known section profiles in the Revit library. If not found it can create new families on the fly.
Cables
Konstru cables are Revit beams.
Cables are translated into beams using the word "CABLE" in its profile section. Any beam with a "CABLE" profile section will be uploaded as a cable.
Columns
Konstru columns are Revit family instances of category structural columns.
Columns should be modeled upright (bottom to top). Slanted and straight columns are supported. Konstru first searches for known section profiles in the Revit library. If not found it can create new families on the fly.
Component
Konstru components are adaptive components in Revit.
Components will be represented as meshes in Konstru, they can be downloaded into Revit if the matching adaptive component family is present.
Floors
Konstru floors are Revit floors, outline based at the top, openings are added as floor openings.
Revit floors are exported by outline including openings. We recommend modelling floors individually as one physical outline per floor sketch which can include openings.
Foundations
Konstru foundations are Revit family instances.
Revit exports foundation family instances as meshes, they can be imported if the matching family (identified by name) is present.
Grids
Konstru grids are Revit grids.
Revit grids are line or arc based, grid bubbles are not being exported.
Groups
Konstru uses Revit Selection Sets as groups.
Levels
Konstru levels are Revit levels.
Levels are not being deleted from Revit since they might host other elements.
Openings
Konstru supports hosted Openings and Shaft Openings. Read more in Tutorials.
Avoid using symbolic lines in Revit openings/shafts, they might be interpreted as part of the outline.
Structural Profiles (Wall or Floor layers)
Konstru can im- or export structural profiles and rebuild their layers. Avoid zero width or membrane layers.
Walls
Konstru walls are Revit structural walls.
Konstru Revit Walls are baseline driven, they can be arc, line or spline based. The actual wall profile geometry is not being exported.
Section profiles
Konstru first searches for known section profiles using AISC names in the Revit library. If not found it can create new families on the fly. Konstru Revit has the following priority order to find new types and families:
